Burnham-on-Sea, part of the West Country Carnival and Parade Circuit

The famous annual West Country Carnival and Parade features a spectacular display of illuminated carts and raises thousands of pounds for local charities.  The Parade starts in North Petherton, on the first Friday in November, then travels onto Burnham-on-Sea the next day.  The large, elaborate trailers that are used are known as Carts and can cost up to £40,000 to build and take a year to design and finish.  The intricate designs can be based on any theme and have included, Children’s Books, Disney Characters, Scenes from history, Travel, Transport and Pop Songs or Dances. The designers of these carts, install thousands of fairy lights into each one, that they ensure are Solar Powered.  Miniature Solar Panels built into the Carts, harness the power of the sun and cleverly transform that power into energy that operates the myriad of lights.
