Boiler Checks to do in the Spring

Spring is nearly here, and the signs of new life and warmer days are all around us. Now is the time to look forward to enjoying them, and finally being able to turn down the central heating to save some money on those energy bills!

At this time of the year, many of us start to get on with some spring cleaning, but one part of the house that is often overlooked, but is vital throughout the winter, is the boiler. Taking some time to make sure that your boiler is in good working order will prolong its life and also enable you to have time to get any repairs done that need doing before next winter arrives.

Here are some of the things to do at this time of the year to benefit the boiler…

Check for Leaks – The boiler is busy over the winter, so this is the time that leaks will most likely start to occur. If the pipes have been cold, the warmer weather  can cause the pipes to change, which can lead to cracks and leaks coming from them. Check around the boiler for signs of a leak – water dripping out is an obvious sign.

The connecting areas and the seals are particularly vulnerable to developing a leak, so make sure that you pay extra attention to these areas.

Get the Boiler Serviced – Having the boiler serviced by a professional like this Evesham boilers company is a great way to keep your boiler healthy, and check it over thoroughly. This will also help to stand it in good stead for the winter when you will want it to work as the days get colder.

Keep an Eye on Radiators – As well as your boiler, you also need to be aware of your radiators. Checking them for signs of problems is a big part of making sure that you have a working central heating system. Radiators that are not working properly will end up costing you money in additional heating too.

The biggest issue with radiators is usually air being trapped in the pipes, causing them to not heat up properly. In this case, the radiators will need bleeding, which is something that is fairly easy to do yourself.
