How To Create A Luxurious Home On A Budget

Christmas is in full swing with extravagantly decorated Christmas trees everywhere we look and it can certainly be inspiring to create a beautiful home. While you might not be Donald Trump or Donatella Versace, you can still create a little luxury in your own home without blowing the budget. With a little creativity and craftsmanship you can easily fashion some luxury in your home that will make you feel like a million dollars.

Create a relaxing corner
This doesn’t have to be a large space but an area of your house dedicated solely to relaxation. Fill it with some pillows or a small day-bed and just chill out. You’ll feel like royalty lying there and (accidentally) having a little afternoon kip.

Wash your sheets
There is a reason Oprah only sleeps in her sheets twice before they’re washed. While this might seem like a bit of stretch it’s truly luxurious to sleep in freshly washed sheets. If you use a fabric softener as well it can feel like brand new sheets every time. Try it out!

Put some candles in your bathroom
Too feminine you say?  Don’t knock it until you’ve tried it! All you men out there will be surprised how relaxing and luxurious it feels to bathe in candlelight. If you’re feeling really fancy you can even get aroma therapy candles (or just some nice smelling ones). It will make your shower time feel like meditation time.

Add some fresh flowers
We’ve all heard about the strange demands of celebrities and one of the recurring themes are fresh flowers in change rooms and trailers. Fresh flowers makes a luxurious addition to any home and particularly if you’re on a budget. They can also give your home a beautiful smell if you choose the right flowers (hint: try oriental lilies).

Buy a bathrobe
A bit of a stretch? No way! If you buy a fluffy white bathrobe you will feel like a million bucks without even leaving your house. If fluffy white bathrobes aren’t your cup of tea, then grab a silk one from your nearest Asian market. You’ll feel like the Hugh Heffner of the neighbourhood but maybe without the bunnies and maybe a little younger.

Adding a little luxury to your everyday doesn’t have to cost a fortune and doesn’t have to take all day either. A few simple steps can make all the difference and transform your ordinary home to a home full of small luxurious touches.
