Celebrate something every day of the year!

We all love a good reason to celebrate and with a whole calendar’s worth of National celebration days lined up, we’ll never be short of a theme. Let’s take a look at some of the weird and wonderful things that we can participate in should we so desire.

So get ready to feel good on March 1st as we come together for World Compliment Day. If you can’t say anything nice then don’t say anything at all and that applies more so on this date than any other. This tradition started in the Netherlands to spread happiness and increase productivity. So spread the love and say something nice to everyone you come across. If you can’t quite manage it then save yourself for Friday 3rd when it’s ‘I want you to be happy day’. March also sees Dentist’s Day, Napping Day (my personal favourite) and Bunsen Burner Day.

April 1st is a chance to have ‘Fun at Work Day’, presumably based on the fact that it’s April Fool’s Day as well. There are some interesting food celebrations to take part in during April including days for the Pretzel, Jellybean, Grilled Cheese and Eggs Benedict.

May 1st is a tribute to Batman but of course May 4th is Star Wars Day. Lock Sock Memorial Day is a serious and sorrowful occasion and completely overshadows Europe Day, both held on May 9th. Also this month comes Frog Jumping Day, Pizza Party Day, Hamburger Day and rather randomly Put a Pillow in Your Fridge Day.

June starts off pretty well with Say Something Nice Day on 1st  with Leave the Office Early Day on the 2nd. It’s clearly a month for the feel good factor with Hug Your Cat Day closely followed by Best Friend’s Day. Take Your Dog to Work Day falls on the 23rd and then the wonderful Chocolate Pudding Day on 26th.

July is all about jokes and UFO’s with a bit of romance thrown in on the 6th with World Kissing Day. Things then get a little weird for three days in a row with Embrace Your Geekness, Pandemonium Day and Gummi Worm Day! Must be all that summer sun.

International Beer Day lands on August 4th, the day before Work Like a Dog Day. I think these two should be the other way round personally! The 24th sees a strange celebration of the demotion of Pluto as a planet followed by Frankenstein Day on 30th.

September 4th is one for the diary as it’s Eat an Extra Dessert Day. No, really you must – it’s a National celebration after all. This month also stages Make a Hat Day, International Talk Like a Pirate Day and Miniature Golf Day – hooray me hearties!

World Smile Day is 6th October followed by Handbag Day on 10th. If you love sloths then you’re in for a treat this month with International Sloth Day falling on 20th. Howl at the Moon Day and Night follows six days later and then the month ends with a spot of Magic appreciation.

November 1st is finally the chance to show your radiator how much it means to you with National Radiator Day. For Aluminium Radiators, visit http://apolloradiators.co.uk/Category/3/header/3/radiator-ranges. After all that excitement, calm things down a bit with Common Sense Day on the 4th and World Kindness Day on 13th. It all gets a bit weird again though with National Absurdity Day on 20th.

We end the year as strangely as we started it with Pretend to be a Time Traveler Day on December 8th and International Dalek Remembrance Day on the 21st where we pay tribute to all those gallant fallen Daleks that have suffered at the hands of Doctor Who.
